Pretty Things - Paradiso, Amsterdam March 29, 1969

a litle present before i leave tomorrow

Excellent live bootleg from The Pretty Thing

this is what the info file says:

1. Instro (fade in)
2. Talking about the good times, part 1
3. Talking about the good times, part 2
4. Alexander
5. Renaissance Fair
6. SF sorrow is born
7. She says good morning
8. Mr. Evasion (cuts off)

Time: 34:21

Source: Soundboard -> Reel-To-Reel Master -> CDR (#2) ->
EAC -> Flac (level 8) -> Dime

Sound quality: A++

Line up:

Phil May: Lead Vocals
Dick Taylor: Lead guitar, Vocals
Wally Allen: Bass, Vocals
John Povey: Keyboards, Vocals
John 'Twink' Alder : Drums

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This has been available much longer on various boots in inferior quality.
But the difference in soundquality of the old source and this new one could
not be bigger. From D- to A++.
The old source was taken from a 37 year old broadcast, which was
probably recorded with a mic in front of a transistor radio.
This one is a digital copy of the original pre-fm VPRO mastertape.
An amazing discovery that will fill many hearts with joy, I'm sure.

But it's not just the recording quality that makes this so outstanding.
The pretties were rawking like the devil was on their heels~~!
This recording makes the Stones live album "Get yer ya-ya's out"
sound like a tea party (sorry stonesfans!).
What an awesome rockband this was.
And what a shame they got so little recognition.

I maintained the titles that the original seed provided.
I'm not sure whether Tr. 1 is correctly titled.
The "Hyde and Psych" boot named this track "Why?",
but then that boot also incorrectly listed Tr.8 as "I see you".

Anyway, dig this!

And many many thanks to the man who -with a lot of patience-
managed to unearth this great piece of history.

go get this!

Hello,
I like what you post but Depositfile is impossible to use : dl speed is so slow (more than 1 hour for this file !!! And I've got a 2 Mbps connection). Can you try other ul services ?
Anyway, thanx a lot for your posts.
And all best wishes for your health...

Hi there & thanks for this great show. Alas, I have a problem with Flac Files, using IMac0SX. I wish somebody could convert it into MP3. Thanks, anyway. Love, Serge.

I would love to get this - but I've been trying for four days and Depositfile still tells me they have no capacity in my location!
I know where I'd like to stick their capacity!!!!

Hi Dirk,

1000 Thnaks for posting lossless material. This is excellent and I encourage you to keep posting flac, shn or ape and thus keep audio quality at its max level. We can easily convert in lossy format later from any lossless format. Not a big deal. But serious muic lovers always are looking for highest audio quality and lossless. Please show the way to other bloggers on this. Thank you, Thank you so much.

Glad to find this. Somebody tried uploading the same set to dime about a month back. It was taken down pretty rapidly since it had a 'lossy format'. I don't rreally care about that, as long as I can get it.
Do find depositfiles takes forever though. readout just said 4+hours since I've got other stuff downloading

For those still trying to get this file it's available at a number of sites, just try some intelligent googling, you'll find it.

Track one is the end of "Why", the old Byrds song. If you get one of those inferior, sounds like mud, boots you can hear the full 15 minute version.
