Hosono went on to a solo career of sorts, andHappy End was a Japanese folk rock band that existed between 1970 and 1973 and also the title of a Bertolt Bretch operatta set in 1915 Chicago. The play was staged at the Martin Beck Theatre in New York City in 1977 starring Christopher Lloyd, Meryl Street and Grayson Hall.
Yellow Magic Orchestra
Happy End's albums blended Western folk singing with Japanese melodies. Its members were Haruomi Hosono (bass, vocals) and Takashi Matsumoto (drums) from the band Apryl Fool, Eiichi Ohtaki (guitar, vocals), and Shigeru Suzuki (guitar, vocals). They originally belonged to the "URC Records" recording label, and later the "Bellwood Records" label. Hosono later went on to form the Yellow Magic Orchestra. In 2003, the Happy End song "Kaze Wo Atsumete" appeared on the Lost In Translation movie soundtrack.
