I was lucky enough to have chatted with Dirk more than a few times and it was not only his enthusiasm for music which stood out. He was always such a nice and pleasing guy to talk to, always looking to broaden his horizon and meet new people.

The way he coped with the situation was more than remarkable: it showed a kind of braveness and spirit that will be remembered by many. It was truly inspiring.

I wish you much strength and the same kind of spirit in overcoming this blow of fate. You can be proud!

Rest in peace Dirk

Met liefde en bewondering,

I am truly blessed to have encountered Dirk, and to feel his joy for his life and the music he loves. My life is much better for it.

His enthusiasm and his passion lives forever in all who are so lucky, like me, to experience his love and his giving. No word, in my opinion, has been created that can adequately describe Dirk's character and the humanity he represents.

So truly amazing is his spirit that I find it impossible to speak of him in the past tense, and can only speak in the present tense with which I will always think of him, even though I do not know him personally.

His spirit is simply too vital for me to think of him otherwise.

Wishing many blessings to his family, and to his friends who do know him personally. You are fortunate, indeed.

Fondest regards,

My sincere sympathies to Dirk’s family and loved ones.

I never met Dirk and we only exchanged a few comments on his blog, but I feel as if I have lost a friend. He was the sort of person you wanted to know – kind and considerate, cheerful and upbeat and doing things for others while quietly fighting a very tough battle of his own.

While he mentioned that struggle from time to time over the last year, he never complained or showed any signs of the anger that many of us would not have been able to contain. He always seemed so brave and so positive and confident that he would triumph. I know we all hoped so much that he would.

Dirk touched many people that he never met, not just because of our common love of music, but because of his humanity.

Sayonara and arigato gozaimasu, Dirk. It was a pleasure to have ‘known’ you …

some people are doing nothing for others, and die too old, too rich, too dumb... some people die too young and too soon....... a peace for you. For you all.

Please don't get hung up or sad about Dirk. He knew he was going to leave us. Be positive and realize that there are many other blogs out there to find music for free. We unfortunately will not be able to find such eclectic good music in one place now which sucks. All my best.

Thanks for the music.
I use to come to Dirks blog for the music. Then I came to check on his progress. I haven't been able to check on him in a while, and now I am sorry to read of his passing.
