Thank you for keeping this up. Dirk was very courageous and so are you. My thoughts - and those of a huge blogging community, I presume - are with you and all of his family and friends in these difficult and painful times.
Please accept the heartffelt condolences from music lovers all over the world such as myself.
All my best
All my best to your family. I won't forget Dirk.
I left a message shortly after Dirk passed away but somehow it didn't seem to say enough. Your son managed to communicate with music lovers of all ages and cultures which is a rare gift but it was more than that. We got to know him, his problems his attitude and his wonderful matter of fact courage in the face of some really dreadful experiences. He became a friend to so many of us through his writing and left an indelible impression. As a father myself I feel so much pain for your sadness and loss, he could not have wished for better parents.
Our thoughts are with you. He's finally where he belongs now. He will always have a place in our hearts. We will never forget his musical generosity. We cannot wait to see the video. Thank you for keeping the site going. All our best to Dirk's family.

There's not much that can be said, and no amount of words will make Dirk's passing any easier for those who cared so much for him. If you can, gain strength from the support of all the many people who Dirk reached out to, and who now are reaching back to you, his family. I used to tell Dirk to "STAY STRONG" and he did a marvelous job of that, so now I tell it to you. My thoughts remain with Dirk and you, his family.

you can be away for years, but, in the end, we'll be together for the eternity.
thanx.
Life is short. Listen to as much music as you can and then tell the others when you die what is going on here on earth and what they are missing. Our thoughts are with you. I am very sad about Dirk.
Much peace.

I'm sorry for your trouble. May you all be at peace.
Man, I just found out!
My heart is filled with sorrow!!
Dirk was sooooo COOL and turned me on to so much good music, I'm just very upset.
Thank you, Dirk - Godspeed on that wild journey, we'll see you soon!!
your words move me much. let me say, that as long as i surf the internet my browser will always have a link to the blog "Cities on Flame with Rock´n Roll". some things are immortal. Peace to you.
Thank you, family.
Just today I told Dirk's story to a friend of mine visiting from across the US (from California to New York). I shared some of the music Dirk had introduced me to, and we visited CitiesOnFlame. She was very moved by this site, and immediately spoke about what a kind and wonderful face Dirk had. She also loved the music, and began reading what Dirk had written.
I write this only to say to Dirk's family that while no one can ease your pain, Dirk is still living on here, because of your generous spirit. He is alive in his posts, and the record of how he wrote about his life can continue to inspire people.
My friend left here with new Group Sounds in her earphones, and a new bookmark in her browser. CitiesOnFlame is traveling thousands of miles right now, and Dirk's story will reach even farther.
I have been fighting an illness, too, and Dirk's example has been a guide for how to live. Thank you so much for all that you're doing. Your son gave so much to the world in so little time, and I'm sure that his siblings will contribute in wonderful ways, too. Your strength is felt around the world.
I only new his by his amazing musical choices. Like the rest of us, I thought of him as he described his situation. Good people do live forever in the memory of family and friends.
Dirk became music...
Music is eternal
Please don't get hung up or sad about Dirk. He knew he was going to leave us. Be positive and realize that there are many other blogs out there to find music for free. We unfortunately will not be able to find such eclectic good music in one place now which sucks. All my best.

My prayers to the whole family. I am very sorry to hear. I was going to see Flower Travellin Band in the U.S. tonight (but the show is cancelled) and that made me think of going to Dirk's site. Dirk and I meet early on after he started his blogspot and he posted a bunch of FTB for me. Thank you Dirk! RIP.
