Goodbye sweat child

Dearest Dirk

Half a year ago you said goodbye to one of your legs
Your best leg that took so many steps for you
That good leg was allowed to go before you and
Because of its offer for you that leg was/is a Very Very special leg
Now it appears that also the rest of you, so you, the whole Dirk Sietse
Must be a Very Very special child
That you may go to Eternity before your mom and dad
You are going to be reunited with your leg and therefore be complete again
But just like your leg, You are not ‘gone’
You just left behind the mater, sacrificed your body
Mater is Emptiness, Spirit that is Fullness!

In a while, when you get used to being in Heaven and completely cured
You will be able to look back over the past year
Notwithstanding everything undoubtedly your best year ever:
What 18/19 year old can say that he, like you
Pulled through night after night with his mom
Got his school diploma without going to school for even one day
Has friends throughout the whole world posting on your blog
Has a relationship with younger brothers and sister like no adolescent ever has
And always close to you: you big friend and faithful dad
A spectacular room, especially built for you
You’ve been flying in a helicopter and you just came back from a great vacation
With freedom blowing around your ears, on the back of the tandem
Without the deep valleys of pain and nausea and sorrow
One doesn’t value Beauty, Love and Happiness
So you’re checking out at the peek of your earthy existence!

Your mom and dad will go on in your spirit
Together with your sister and little brothers
And you are going to be their guardian angel
Just like how you were able to wiggle your amputated toes
They will be able to feel you around every single day
And talk to you, as much as they want because you will be there always
From Heaven you will be posting on your new blog
Cities On Flame With Rock And Roll is closing
You will start: Heaven to Earth With Angel Dirk
Life on earth here will never be the way it was
But No one can take away what you brought and gave to us

Goodbye sweat Dirk!

This was a beautiful poem, and Dirk was a beautiful young man. In terms of music, Dirk played an invaluable role in rediscovering and sharing long lost music to the rest of the world. I am sure that many years from now, people will still be remembering and missing his blog.

Dear Dirk's Mom and Dad,

I am deeply impressed by the power you both have had these months and days.

Despite his short life, Dirk accomplished his duty in this planet like few could do it. And you both were chosen to carry part of his burden.

Now he's gone. You, his sister and brothers are full of loving and pure energy just to face the years to come. And these years will be worthy for this special family.

God bless you!

Once again,

I guess you were really a "sweat" child. It must have been so HOT dealing with the bad stuff in this world. You were always sweating. I will never forget you now. thanks for the free music. We all loved hearing what you were going through and it made us all feel better about ourselves, which is good and how it should be. Peace to your sad family and hopefully they will join you soon in the next perfect world.

Always staying powerful,

Cooper: Well done, your command of your first language is better than someone else's use of their 2nd language. Bravo. A lack of wit, & a lack of humanity. You must be very proud.

A blog like Dirk's was not about "free music", which, if you had been a regular visitor you would have known. It was about sharing a passion for music, and for life, with strangers who became friends. The internet can bring together people in kinship over the most obscure things, of which music is the most obvious example. Sometimes I loved the music suggested by Dirk, sometimes its wilful obscurity was just TOO much, but it was always a pleasure to come back and listen some more. And of course, the blog was as much about Dirk's struggle, and how well he coped with it.

Dirk obviously wanted his family to keep the blog, & the memory of the fun he had doing it, alive. I salute them, I wish them strength and love & I thank Dirk for sharing his positivity for music & life.

Andy

Andy,

My intentional comments were not directed towards you, but you felt the need to comment about me, so I'll reply to you just once.

The English language is extremely important, and I am a very proud person and human. Did you really share a "passion" with Dirk? Would you be here if there was no free music and just a link to Amazon to purchase the stuff? I doubt it.

C'mon, it was about free music when it boils down. You and I both know that.

Also, From all of my correspondence with Dirk, I think he would have had a laugh with using the word "sweat". He was a very funny guy. God bless him.

Lighten up pal. Don't "sweet" it. Let me make a prediction. You must be a Catholic judging from your self-righteousness.

Zuig een donky haan,

~Cooper and friends

I've had this blog bookmarked for awhile. It was recommended to me by some music enthusiasts. Just found out about the news. Well, I'm sure it has all been said... this music was very important, but it's not just about getting some free tunes. There is a good chance I would never have heard of/ listened this music if not for the blog. And of course the personal messages and detailed descriptions of the music meant very much to people. You could always comment and tell Dirk you liked the songs and keep up the awesome sharing. And look! people from all over the planet are responding! What a wonderful connection to have!

Thanks Dirk for everything!
Your musics brought me to my young days particulary rolling sixties.
Your announcements about Japanese 60's Groupsounds and Psychedelic rocks are quite reliable, so I learned a lot of things from you. So, I do not believe that you weren't Japanese even now.
Anyway, R.I.P Dirk!

Cooper, your words "C'mon, it was about free music when it boils down. You and I both know that." are really unwarranted.

I don't know about most bloggers but I just visit these blogs to discover music, not because it is free. And if I liked certain albums, then I'd go out of my way to track them down and buy them. It's attitudes like yours, Cooper, which make many bloggers stop posting albums anymore, or closing down their own blogs.

I discovered quite a few bands on here, thanks to Dirk, and I'll always be grateful for that. RIP Dirk, you were a gent and I'll always keep the messages we sent to each other.

I see Dirk's icons and comments around and it's always so sad to think he's not coming back. I have so much sympathy for his family and can't imagine how they feel. And I can't believe that anyone would think it was appropriate to make fun of them. Cooper, you've got nothing to be proud about.

I only arrived at this blog in the last days of Dirk's life and I feel truly sad that I missed out on the chance to know him properly. His work here is great, sharing this music with people all around the world, drawing people together and making them happy - what better epitaph could there be for a person's life? It is obvious he will be very much missed by many, many people.

Thank you, personally, for continuing to share his love and passion.

Your words in this post, along with my friends photos broke my heart all over again.. but I thank you, I thank you..

Never never never let the memories die, even when they pull your legs out from under you and tears have so little distance to fall.

Thank you for stabbing his memory into me again. Thank you.

I came across this blog while looking for information about Morita Douji, a now-obscure Japanese folk singer. I looked through some of the archives and was intrigued by them. It was clear that the writer of this blog must be a very interesting person, one I would have liked to have corresponded with on the subject of our mutual interest.

He looks like a very nice guy to me- you can't always judge a book by its cover, but some faces have a certain warmth to them. I'm sorry for your loss. Your son looks like the sort of man I would have liked to have known, and wrote like one.

I know that nothing can make right your loss- the world can be an inexplicably sad place. But I hope that it is some consolation to know that your son was a man able to inspire regard from many people. You can count me in that number.

And seeing everything that Dirk has posted, he had impeccable taste.
